Help A Murfreesboro Cause Win a $25,000 Grant

A little over half-way through the 10-day State Farm Neighborhood Assist voting phase and the Child Advocacy Center of Rutherford County, Inc. in Murfreesboro is currently ranked in the Top 40 (#20 as of 8am this morning). Now they need the public’s help to remain in the Top 40 and win $25,000.

Through August 27, U.S. residents who are 18 and older with a valid email address can vote to help bring a $25,000 grant to each of the top 40 vote-getters. Two thousand submissions were received in June through State Farm Neighborhood Assist, a crowd-sourced philanthropic program that empowers communities to identify issues in their neighborhoods. The State Farm Review Committee selected the top 200 finalists, of which 34 states and the District of Columbia are represented.

If they finish in the Top 40 vote getters, the Child Advocacy Center will use the money to help respond to the increased number child abuse cases. Child abuse reporting has increased 24% in the first 6 months of fiscal year 2021. Working as a multi-disciplinary team with Department of Children’s Services, law enforcement, and the District Attorney’s Office, the CAC interviews child victims, provides crisis counseling to their non-offending families, helps children heal from the trauma, and helps families rebuild their shattered lives.

To vote for the Child Advocacy Center of Rutherford County, go directly to https://www.neighborhoodassist.com/entry/2038352. The top 200 causes have until Aug. 27 at 11:59pm ET to rally votes and anyone voting is allowed up to 10 votes per day.

On September 29, the top 40 vote-receiving causes will be announced at www.neighborhoodassist.com and a $25,000 grant will be awarded to each of the affiliated nonprofits.
